How TMT will Help You

TMT’s Tools and Templates

The Media Trainers® workshops are guided by a philosophy designed to enhance your comfort level and message delivery capability in interviews and presentations by offering you expeditious and proven processes. These processes are centered around exclusive, practical and robust tools:

TMT’s 10 Rules of Interviewing™

TMT’s Media Skills Development Workshop is based on this specific set of benchmarks that guide you through the techniques of answering questions on your terms, and from your perspective, and in the development of your agenda.

The rules are easy to follow and serve as "hooks" to keep you on a proper path of preparation. The checklist is a logical process; each rule is a plank in a solid foundation for your communications strategy. Workshop participants leave with a copy of these rules to help guide them during future news interview opportunities.

TMT’s 30 Minute News Interview Planner™

This is TMT’s exclusive and streamlined process for message/agenda development. As the name suggests, it should take 30 minutes (or less) using this process to be properly prepared for an interview. Time and again our clients tell us this model has worked effectively for them.

Typically, executives look to their professional communicators to give them a list of anticipated questions and suggested answers. Often, these can be voluminous tomes that don't get read, or, if they are read, quickly forgotten. The interviewee who uses this method usually does not have the connection they need to their key messages. And, even if they do read and remember the material, what if those questions are not asked, or they're asked in a different way? This volume of material becomes a distraction.

TMT’s 30 Minute News Interview Planner™ allows your executive to engage an interviewer on a comfortable, natural level, instead of sounding pre–programmed and less than credible. Use this process with them when they’re preparing for an interview and they’ll "own" the messages and be able to bridge to sound bites they need to deliver.

TMT’s Exposure Grid™

This is your "story inventory". It’s one of the very first things you will work on interactively in our media training workshops. It helps you focus on the story angles you want to talk about, what we call your "positive opportunities," as well as the "negative opportunities," story angles you will need messages for. Note that the key word here is "opportunities." This inventory method also helps you list all the potential audiences you may want to reach, depending on the story and the medium you are interviewing with. And, finally, it includes a list for you to note all the various media you may need, or wish, to engage.

Once completed, you have this inventory tool to draw from in order to develop specific interview agendas with TMT’s 30 Minute News Interview Planner™.

TMT’s 10 Rules of Persuasive Communication™

Used in TMT’s New Business Development (NBD) Workshops for marketing and sales executives, TMT’s 10 Rules of Persuasive Communication™ is a specific set of benchmarks to help close deals with prospective customers. Many of the "rules" are supported with video examples that illustrate effective techniques for persuasive presentations.

Just like our other seminars, TMT’s New Business Development (NBD) Workshop is customized for each client to make the training as realistic and durable as possible.

TMT’s NBD Planning Grid™

Additionally, these workshops have their own specialized tool for effective due diligence prior to meeting with the prospect. TMT’s NBD Planning Grid™ helps you sort through what your client might want vs. what they actually need. It also allows you to define exactly what you can–and cannot–provide as well as quantifying the economic potential of this business deal.
